Oil on Linen   40 x 31 cm

This shows the one spot on the wing of the “Old Lady Moth” Dasypodia selenophora,  a fellow resident of (Eltham and) Victoria.  The wings normally looks grey, but turn them in the light and they can look golden (I prefer golden in this case..).  It’s the spot that stands out, a deep blue – and it stood out to me because when I first saw Australian agricultural land, both from the air and driving through it, the dams (water reservoirs) are the feature that stands out – especially towards the end of summer when the grass will be a rich gold, like in this painting.
