It was the patterns on the butterflies’ wings which made me want to paint them, as well as the camouflage colours. Both the colours and the patterns reflect the landscape which these butterflies need to hide in. Close up, these patterns make the most beautiful abstract images, while at the same time echoing the Australian landscape, often looking, to me, like aerial landscapes. This is an abstract painting though the patterns and colours are all from the wings of local native Australian butterflies.
This is a large canvas and would look excellent as a focal point in an average sized room. Painted in premium quality Oil Paint on Canvas, dimensions: 64 x 50 cm
