I like to experiment with different mediums. This scene, of the golden sun setting over the very calm sea, at Red Rocks Beach on Phillip Island, is painted on a prepared wooden board with watercolour, and the many plants and trees are drawn with quality artist’s pencils. The watercolour bleeds to represent the cloudy sky very well, and the halo the clouds have created around the sun. The image is protected with a clear, archival, matt varnish, and the wooden board is cradled at the back to prevent any warping. The piece is 35.7 x 28cm, and 2cm deep, it is ready to hang.
