Description
Another one of my favourite Butterfly Paintings! It was the patterns on the butterflies’ wings which made me want to paint them, as well as the camouflage colours. Both the colours and the patterns reflect the landscape which these butterflies need to hide in, and it is amazing, almost magical, how a butterfly will disappear when it is still, folding its wings and blending with its environment. Close up, these patterns make the most beautiful abstract images, while at the same time echoing the Australian landscape, often looking, to me, like aerial landscapes, this one reminds me of one of the many dams which you see from the air over Australia, and a river estuary, seen from above.
