Description
These delicate flowers make a dramatic composition when viewed from above, with shadows cast by strong Australian afternoon sunlight, in my studio. My favourite flowers are often humble, these Potato Vine (Solanum laxum) flowers have simple form and colours; simple, but effective. I love the sinewy lines of climbing plants. In this piece I’m also excited about the watercolour effects in the wash (the shadows) I can achieve with resilient acrylic inks.
This piece is painted on one of my favourite materials, a strong wooden panel (reinforced on the back with a wooden “cradle”). Dimensions are 21cm square, about 1 cm deep, the wooden sides are painted white. Ready to hang.
